I have just finished designing the sound for a devised piece at Central called 'The Herd' -...
A folkloric, dark comedy about how being part of a group might allow us to neglect our individual responsibility and how a society fractures when it’s pushed.
The play turned out to have many scenes and transitions. I decided to use an ongoing pizz string piece that helped move the story along , in a comedic way. This worked well with the introduction of different characters. I changed to double bass with certain character moments which particularly helped with comic effect
When things got darker I made various drones including very low sub bass rumbles and pulsing and also tried to create reocurring themes for moments of sadness and realisation in the character Flooeur that is discovering that she is dead
